Samsung Announces Galaxy Note

Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd.’s Galaxy Note Edge is expected to arrive in the U.S. sometime next week, with speculation placing its bets on November 14. The handset has garnered a lot of attention because of its uniquely curved second screen that remains on to see notifications, the time, or news headlines. Meanwhile the main screen can be turned off, switching functions depending on the app for easier navigation.

Features

The Galaxy Note Edge features a 5.6” Quad HD Super AMOLED display with 2560 x 1440 resolution and 540 pixels per inch, a 2.7 GHz Quad-Core Processor, 3GB RAM and 32GB on-board storage with microSD expandable memory up to 128GB. Samsung’s newest will also feature support for Near Field Communications (NFC), USB 2.0, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac PCIe w/ MIMO and Bluetooth 4.1. For security, the Galaxy Note Edge has SAFE with KNOX. Other specs include sensors for gesture control, an accelerometer, a geo-magnetic capability, gyroscope, RGB,IR-LED proximity sensor, barometer, hall sensor, finger scanner, UV, heart rate monitoring, and SpO2.

If you are intrigued by the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge and want it as your next smartphone, you’ll be happy to know that the four major U.S. carriers will be carrying the device. No news yet as to when the device will be officially released in the U.S., and no prices have been stated. But given the fact that the Galaxy Edge is very similar to the Galaxy Note 4 which sells for $825.99 without a contract and $299 with a two-year contract, the price of the Galaxy Edge is expected to be in the same price range.

So where can you get the Galaxy Note Edge?

Where to get the Galaxy Note Edge

Since the announcement of the Galaxy Note Edge back in September, AT&T Corp., Verizon Communications, Inc., T-Mobile US, Inc., and Sprint Corp. have all stated that they will be carrying the device for their respective networks. But things have been quiet since then. Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile all have their Galaxy Note Edge landing pages, but Sprint still only has its announcement from September.

Looking at Samsung’s product page, you’ll see that the four networks will carry the device. However, no information is provided as to when the device will be available for consumers and how much it will cost.

3 reason to buy the Galaxy Note Edge

Always-on second screen

The Smart Edge Screen allows you to always stay on top of notifications, as the screen doesn’t turn off. That means you can skip pressing a button to wake the device in order to see alerts, missed calls, or other notifications and reminders.

Better selfies

With the heart rate sensor on the Galaxy Note Edge, taking selfies just got a whole lot better. No more fumbling with the on-screen camera button or worrying you’ll drop your device because you’re holding it awkwardly. You can use the heart rate sensor at the back of the device to take a selfie, which means you are holding your phone securely in your hand and you just use one finger, probably your index finger, to take the money shot.

 .

Fast charging

Apps, playing games, texting, making and receiving calls, taking photos or videos, checking and rechecking if you have new emails or notifications – these are all battery draining activities. Good news is, the Galaxy Note Edge has a Li-ion 3,000mAh battery able to keep up with your frequent check-ins, as well as a new Adaptive Fast Charging feature which charges your device from zero to fifty percent in just 30 minutes. This fast charging feature means you’ll spend less time tied down and more time being mobile.
