Where to watch Apple Watch Spring Forward event

Apple is slated to host its Spring Forward media event today, which will be held at the Yerba Buena Center at 10 a.m. PT. So what can we expect at the event?

All signs are pointing to the Apple Watch. The Cupertino giant is expected to officially launch the Apple Watch for retail sale, as well as divulge more information about the device, including its specs, standout features, price and availability.

Spring forward

In a recent interview, Apple CEO Tim Cook clarified some rumors regarding the Apple Watch, such as its reportedly very short battery life, how it will fight the “new cancer,” and how it will replace car keys, to name just a few questions about the highly anticipated smartwatch.

Watch the livestream

If you’re lucky enough to score an invite for the Spring Forward event, good for you! But for those who can’t be at the event for some reason, you can watch the livestream at http://www.apple.com/live/.

There’s a catch, though, only those using Safari 5.1.10 or later on a computer running OS X v10.6.8 or later will be able to watch the livestream. For those on the go, don’t worry, you can watch the Spring Forward event using your iPhone, iPad or iPod, but make sure its running on iOS 6.0 or later. You can also stream the Spring Forward event using your second- or third-generation Apple TV running software 6.2 or later.

Apple will also be live blogging the event, so even if you’re using a different browser and operating system, you can see the updates at the given link, just not on the livestream.

How to livestream the event using a different platform

Not everyone is using an apple device, but that doesn’t mean they are not interested in what Apple will be revealing today.

For those using Windows-based computer, all you need to do is download VLC, which is VideoLan media player. Once it’s done downloading, launch the app and go to the “Media” tab where you’ll see “Open Network Stream.” Select that. In the URL field, type or copy this link: http://p.events-delivery.apple.com.edgesuite.net/1503ohibasdvoihbasfdv/m3u8/atv_mvp.m3u8.

Hit play, and you’re good to go. Until the event starts, you probably won’t be seeing anything on the player. Don’t forget to refresh the stream when the event starts at 10 a.m. PT.
