When Monty Python legend John Cleese throws water on theCUBE

Cleese Drawing 1It’s nothing new to land an A-list tech executive on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE’s premiere video production for exclusive event coverage, but what happens when a famous comedic actor drops by?

While at ServiceNow Knowledge15, John Cleese, English actor, comedian, writer and film producer sat with theCUBE hosts Dave Vellante and John Furrier. You might be wondering what a member of the Monty Python crew was doing a tech event right? It’s not general knowledge but Cleese is a professor at Cornell University and is regarded as one of today’s geekiest of futurists, despite claiming that he lives in the past more than the future.

If you haven’t watched the video, here it is:

Bet you didn’t expect the ending, right?

Throwing water on a host seems to be Cleese’s thing now. If you can remember, during an interview with Alan Carr on Chatty Man last year, Cleese threw a glass of water, a glass of red Taboo and then threw nuts at the host as the interview ensues. Don’t feel too bad for Carr though as he was able to dump a bowl of nuts on Cleese as well as water.

At the end of theCUBE interview, Cleese threw his water on Vellante and Furrier and because the segment was over for Cleese, the two hosts laughing off the actor’s abrupt ending. Some found the interview funny, especially the finale, naming it an automatic ‘theCube classic,’ and there were even some who created fan art (see left, and above) and a GIF of the now famous water toss.

But not everyone seemed to have enjoyed the interview as much as theCUBE hosts, as one Reddit thread dissected what happened and how angry Cleese appears to be. Read the full thread to find out why Cleese’s current frustrations with today’s tech-addicted generation eventually led to an unexpected ending to this awkward and entertaining segment of theCUBE.

If you think the end of the interview was a funny and classic Cleese move, here’s a GIF and more fan art for you to enjoy:
