Today Vormetric, Inc. announced that CloudHesive LLC joined the Vormetric Cloud Partner Program, which will add several Encryption-as-a-Service (EaaS) solutions to CloudHesive’s cloud management toolset. The new offerings include services that employ Vormetric Transparent Encryption and the Vormetric Cloud Encryption gateway.

Vormetric prides itself as a leader in data security solutions through protecting data in physical, virtual, big data, and cloud environments. The company has over a decade of service for businesses and government agencies, Vormetric’s Data Security Program is run by more than 15,000 global enterprises. CloudHesive was founded in 2014 as a cloud consulting and management company with a focus on enterprise security, reliability, and availability. The company delivers this vision of platform agnostic cloud management and security through partnerships like the one with Vormetric.

When businesses place data in the cloud it divorces information and security from the early paradigm of having a perimeter to protect from intrusion because the cloud has no perimeter–especially public and hybrid cloud solutions. In the case of CloudHesive’s encryption-as-a-service these services maintain security while still allowing CloudHesive personnel to still provide management and operation without allowing personnel access to the data.

In short, by making use of Vormetric’s encryption service, CloudHesive can still do its job and provide cloud infrastructure agnostic to policy management and private encryption keys.

The Vormetric cloud encryption solutions

The two Vormetric solutions have been implemented for CloudHesive’s EaaS offering are Vormetric Transparent Encryption and the Vormetric Cloud Encryption Gateway.

Vormetric Transparent Encryption works by providing data-at-rest security for Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) using clusters provided by the Vormetric Data Security Manager management appliances. The capabilities of Transparent Encryption include data encryption at the file or volume level without modifying existing infrastructure.

The Vormetric Cloud Encryption gateway assists enterprises with securing sensitive data residing in cloud environments with encryption, key management and access controls. Platforms secured with the gateway include Amazon Web Services (AWS) Simple Storage Service (S3) and Box.
