iOS 9 could look like this if Apple crowdsourced ideas

Rumors abound – some from very credible sources – about new features expected in iOS 9, including a voice-controlled personal assistant app dubbed “Proactive”, Force Touch capability, a revised keyboard, iMessage changes, public transit info in Maps, split screen functionality to view two or more apps side-by-side, to name only a few.

Apple is set to introduce iOS 9, due for release later this year, at the company’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference that kicks off on Monday, June 8.

That’s just a few days away, but if you cannot wait, and would like to fantasize about what Apple has in store for iOS 9, the below iOS 9 concept videos will take you on a trip down the rabbit hole. (via Phone Arena)

In his iOS 9 concept video, Ralph Theodory imagines a new iCloud that includes a ‘Devices’ tab to display information such as battery percentage and storage space on all your connected iOS devices. iCloud could, for example, send a notification to your Apple Watch to tell you that your MacBook’s battery is running low.

Theodory also imagines some improvements to Spotlight search to include social media platforms, people, content from the iPhone and the web, and some additional Spotlight actions like ‘Silent Siri’ that lets you type instead of speak in settings like meetings or the library.

As mentioned earlier, Apple is working on ‘Proactive’, which will ultimately replace Spotlight and some of these features may well find their way into iOS 9 is some form or another – or not.

Interestingly, Theodory imagines split screen functionality in iOS 9 to allow multiple apps on one screen. Rumors suggest Apple is already testing this functionality in an iOS 9 version for its upcoming 12 inch iPad.

For more from Theodory’s imagination, watch the full video below:

Our second iOS 9 concept video comes from iTech Concept and imagines an iOS 9 with options to let a user personalize the look and feel of the user interface, a rendering of Apple’s upcoming streaming music service, improvements to Reachability, battery saving options, and more.

Keep in mind these are only concept videos, and while Apple designers may be influenced by them to some extent – they are human after all – don’t set your heart on seeing any of these features when Apple unveils iOS 9 on Monday.
