iPhone 7 vs. Galaxy S7: Rumored release dates, specs, pricing and more
Rivals Apple and Samsung Electronics Co Ltd. compete for the high-end smartphone market and both companies are rumored to have new devices in the works.
The rumor mill has, at different stages, reported that Apple’s next iPhone will be called the iPhone 7 while others have maintained Apple will launch two iPhone 6s versions next. For the purposes of this comparison, we will stick to the iPhone 7 naming.
Fresh from its launch of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, Samsung is rumored to be working on its new flagship smartphone, dubbed the Galaxy S7.
We’ve sorted through the myriad of rumors and compare some of the most feasible ones below:
iPhone 7 vs. Galaxy S7: Release date
Provided Apple sticks to its traditional release schedule, we are likely to see the iPhone 7 sometime toward the end of September.
Samsung typically introduces its new flagship smartphones at Mobile World Congress. With next year’s event scheduled to take place February 22 to 25, we’ll likely see the Galaxy S7 launched then.
iPhone 7 vs. Galaxy S7: Camera
It’s been widely rumored that Apple’s next iPhone will boast the best camera of all iPhones to date. Some rumors suggest the iPhone 7 will feature a 12 MP rear camera capable of taking SLR-quality pictures and a recent discovery in iOS 9’s code suggests that the iPhone 7 may also feature an improved FaceTime camera with 1080p video capture, 240fps slo-mo video at 720p, a front-facing camera flash, and panoramic selfies.
The Galaxy S7 could feature a 20 or 30-megapixel rear camera with an ultra low light sensitivity sensor and 10-megapixel front-facing camera.
iPhone 7 vs. Galaxy S7: Design and screen size
The iPhone 7 is likely to come in two models: the 4.7 inch iPhone 7 and the 5.5 inch iPhone 7 Plus, although rumors have suggested Apple is working on a 4 inch iPhone 7c due for release in 2016.
The most notable change expected for the iPhone 7’s screen is the rumored support for ForceTouch in iOS 9. While not a visible change, ForceTouch will change how users interact with their iPhones.
Apple is likely to stick to its Retina HD display for the iPhone 7.
Samsung may drop the Edge model it introduced on the Galaxy S6 and stick to one model with a curved display wrapped around the device’s edges. The S7 is rumored to feature a 4K 3840 x 2160 pixel AMOLED display measuring in at 5.5 inches.
iPhone 7 vs. Galaxy S7: Specs
Under the hood, the iPhone 7 may have 2 GB RAM, a new more powerful A9 processor manufactured by Samsung and 256 GB onboard storage.
The Galaxy S7 could boast 4GB RAM with a 64bit Exynos processor at 3.5GHz and 128GB of onboard storage. Another rumor suggested the Galaxy S7 could be powered by a true Octa-Core processor at 3.XGHz with 6GB RAM.

The iPhone 7 may cost between $649 and $849 while the Galaxy S7 could set buyers back as much as $750 to $850 at launch.
