Report: Samsung Galaxy Note 5, S6 Plus, S6 Edge Plus coming August 12, on sale August 21
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.’s latest Android-powered smartphones may be not far off, with an unconfirmed report Tuesday suggesting that they’ll be announced in August.
According to Samsung dedicated site Sammobile, Samsung will announce the Galaxy Note 5, along with the Galaxy S6 Plus and the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus on August 12, with all three to go on sale August 21.
The concept of the Galaxy Note will be familiar to many, as it’s a popular phablet version of Samsung’s Galaxy range, and the Galaxy Note 5 will primarily be an upgrade of the Galaxy Note 4, complete with improved everything. But the two versions of the Galaxy S6 Plus, however, won’t be; as we’ve covered previously, both versions are a slightly bigger versions of the standard Galaxy S6, reporting clocking in at 5.5 inches verses that normal Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge at 5.1 inches.
The interesting addition in the report is the latest on what all three phones will allegedly be released with. The Galaxy Note 5 is said to be following in the footsteps of the Galaxy S6 and will (sadly) not have a microSD slot.
Design wise, the Galaxy Note 5 is said to be a blown-up version of the Galaxy S6, but similar to the Galaxy A8, with the Galaxy Note 5 having an “extremely thin screen bezel” that is said to assist ergonomically given that the Galaxy Note 5 is likely to follow in the footsteps of the Galaxy S6 and sport a new metal and glass design.
Those fond of the stylus offered with the Galaxy Note range will also see a difference, with the S Pen receiving a style change that will make the stylus look more like an actual pen.
The Galaxy Note 5 is also allegedly going to be offered in a variety of colors, with silver, gold, black and white options being available.
Memory wise, there’s good news, with the Galaxy Note 5 said to be shipping with 4GB of RAM, the first Samsung device to do so.
On the Galaxy S6 Plus and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus front, according to the report, there’s nothing much to add other than, as previously noted, they are both just slightly bigger versions of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, respectively.
