Apple’s back to school promo throws in a free pair of Beats Solo 2 headphones with Mac purchase
Are you a student, parent of a student, or educator who would you like a free pair of Beats headphones with your shiny, brand new MacBook, MacBook Pro, or other Mac computer purchase?
If your answer is in the affirmative you’re in luck, with reports saying that Apple is throwing in a free pair of Beats Solo 2 on-ear headphones.
Those who prefer their headphones to be wireless are able to pay an additional $100 on their Mac purchase and obtain a pair of wireless Beats Solo 2 headphones instead.
Both offer a serious value-add to Mac buyers, with the list price for the Beats Solo 2 being $199.95, and the wireless version coming in at $299.95.
The wired version is described by Beats as its most most popular headphone, and is said to have been redesigned from the inside out versus version one, complete with updated and improved acoustics that let users “feel their music” (whatever that means) with a wider range of sound and enhanced clarity.
Because you can never have enough superlatives in a product description, the Beats Solo 2 is also described as being streamlined, lightweight, durable, and “more comfortable than ever.”
The Beats Solo 2 headphones also come in a variety of colors, and are available in glossy black, white, red, blue, gray and pink, so if you want to color coordinate them with your Mac product you can.
Both sets of headphones are ranked highly on Amazon, with the wired version receiving 4 stars out of 5, and the wireless version sporting a very healthy 4.5 stars.
Who doesn’t like free?
While the humble wisdom of a mere SiliconANGLE writer doesn’t understand why anyone would spend $300 on a set of headphones, particularly one that also includes in its bizarre product statement “take your music with you wherever you go, with the Solo2” (wouldn’t you need a phone or iPod for that?,) none the less in this case they’re free, and who doesn’t like free?
The back to school promotion from Apple comes off a long list of annual back to school sales for Apple, and will, particularly among millennials, be well received; off the back of record Mac sales in the last quarter the promotion will, without question, see orders for Mac products, particularly the shiny new MacBook and 15 inch MacBook Pro, continue to grow.
To get your free headphones with Mac purchase, you need to be a student of some sort, a parent of a student, or an educator that qualifies for educational pricing. Alternatively if you aren’t one of those, you need to find someone who is and get them to buy it for you.
