Following the release of iOS 9 beta 4 to developers on Tuesday, Apple on Wednesday released iOS 9 public beta 2 to members of its public beta software program. Since the two beta’s are identical, the same updates and improvements developers received on Tuesday are now available to public testers.

Below we take a look at what is new in iOS 9 public beta 2:

Home Sharing is back: Home Sharing for music was removed in iOS 8.4 alongside the launch of Apple Music. Responding to a tweet, Apple’s Eddy Cue tweeted “We are working to have Home Sharing in iOS 9.” Apple did just that and Home Sharing for music is back in the latest developer and public betas of iOS 9.

Support for new iPod touch: With the latest beta, Apple has added a new installation profile for its latest iPod touch, released last week.

Volume button as shutter is fixed: A bug in iOS 9 beta 3 prevented an iPhone’s volume button from acting as the shutter button for the camera – this has been fixed in iOS 9 beta 4 and the public beta.

Multitasking comes to Podcast app: With iOS 9, Apple introduced multitasking functions for iPad. One of those, Picture-in-Picture for playing a video while using another app, now works with Apple Podcasts app.

Handoff gets a new home: Handoff in the App Switcher has moved to the bottom as a banner. Simply pull up on the Handoff bar to open the app.

New settings for Apple Pay: In the Settings app, a new option for Apple Pay lets users turn off Apple Pay access from the home screen. Additionally, when double clicking the home button to launch the Wallet app (previously Passbook) from the lock screen, the app only displays passes with barcodes.

Smaller changes in iOS 9 public beta 2 include: new icons for Notifications, iPhone, Apple Watch on Battery widget, and battery icon; when the Back button from other apps is present, the Activity indicator is now on the right; Bing Web Results can be turned off in Spotlight Search settings; when sharing Apple Music content there is larger artwork and new ‘heart’ and ‘radio’ options; HomeKit has new notifications options; and there is a new photo picker user interface for the web.
