New for IoT builders: Cloud-based dev kit, wireless building blocks

Developers now have an abundance of choices when it comes to tools for designing and building IoT products and applications, and new options just keep on coming.

For starters, CentraLite Systems, Inc. launched its IoT development kit Jilia on Kickstarter, Inc., which is a simple API framework to make the development process easier. Additionally, Sam Labs Ltd. collaborated with Map Project Office for IoT building blocks, and last week also saw the release of Thread, a new IP-based wireless networking protocol designed for low-power connected products in the home.

Control Nest through ADT app in first-ever security-smart home team up

Nest thermostatHome automation and security company ADT Corp. has announced a first-of-its-kind partnership with Nest Labs, Inc.

The partnership will integrate the Nest Learning Thermostat to ADT’s system, allowing its customers to control the smart thermostat using the updated ADT Pulse app.
