Unpacked: Specs for Galaxy Note 5, S6 mini and more
Anticipation runs high for the upcoming Unpacked event, where smartphone makerSamsung Electronics Co., Ltd. is expected to unveil a range of new devices. Samsung’s web page reveals that the company has an Unpacked event scheduled for August 13, 2015, and you can watch the livestream at 11 a.m. EDT here.
The landing page for the Unpacked event is quite dizzying, as it only features the time and date of the event and a bunch of horizontal lines that have a slight hump in the middle. Not really sure what those lines represent, but I’m assuming it has something to do with the design of the new Galaxy devices.
So what can we expect from Samsung’s Unpacked event? For starters, we can expect to see more than one device.
Galaxy Note 5
The Galaxy Note 5 is said to feature a 5.7-inch display with a 2560×1440 pixel resolution, an Exynos 7422 processor, 32GB of internal storage and 4GB RAM. No news yet as to whether it will support a microSD. The device is also rumored to feature an enhanced S-Pen with new features and software touches.
Galaxy S6 Edge Plus
This phablet is said to feature a 5.67-inch super AMOLED with QHD resolution (2560 x 1440 pixels), a Snapdragon 808 processor, 16MP main camera, 5MP front camera, non-removable 3,000 mAh battery, and run Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. The device is said to lack support for microSD, and the USB Type-C port is also missing. The device will come in gold, silver, white and black color options.
Galaxy S6 Plus
The device is said to feature a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display with 1080 x 1920 pixels, Exynos 7420 processor, Android 5.0.2 Lollipop, 32GB internal storage, 4GB RAM and 16MP primary camera. It also comes with a 5MP front-facing camera. fingerprint sensor and non-removable Li-Po 3,000 mAh battery. It will be available in white pear and black sapphire.
Galaxy S6 mini
Samsung has been releasing a smaller version of its flagship, device and this year will be no different. The Galaxy S6 mini is said to feature a 4.6-inch HD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, Adreno 418 GPU, 2GB of RAM, 16MP rear camera and 5MP front camera.
It should be noted that the specifications mentioned here should be taken with a grain of salt, as they are currently just rumors. We have to wait for Samsung’s official announcement to confirm any of these.
