Watch LIVE: HP Big Data broadcast asks where HAVEn is today | #HPBigData2015

The HP Big Data Conference kicked off its “seize the data”-themed event in Boston this week, and SiliconANGLE Media’s roving news desk theCUBE broadcasts live from the conference on August 11 and 12 with interviews from top Big Data experts, including Colin Mahony, senior VP & GM, HP Software Big Data; Jack Gudenkauf, VP Big Data, Playtika Ltd.; Toby Bloom, Ph.D., Deputy Scientific Director, Informatics, New York Genome Center and more.

Event keynoters at this year’s event include Dr. Michael Stonebraker, Turing Award winner; Poppy Crum of Dolby Laboratories, Inc. and Stanford University; Ken Rudin, director of analytics at Facebook; and more.

Also, make sure to check in during the event with theCUBE hosts John Furrier and Dave Velante.

What to expect

Analysts on theCUBE are prepared to discuss the impact of HP’s most recent acquisitions and investments, the potential of the company’s evolving technology, and the challenges that the HAVEn Developer Network continues to encounter.

After acquiring Vertica Systems, Inc. and Autonomy Corp., HP hit hard times. “Vertica got lost in that shuffle,” said Dave Vellante, co-founder and chief analyst of The Wikibon Project and cohost of theCUBE. But Vellante added that Vertica was a diamond in the rough, and it was rebranded to HP Software (HP Big Data) with the intention of leveraging “kick-ass tech” and a “great team.”

How will HP come through its tough times, and will it effectively leverage HAVEn and other tech?

“They’re trying to create solutions to leverage the best of these assets to target enterprise,” according to Vellante. “HP is still learning how to be a strong software company.”
