Surface Pro 4. Microsoft Band 2 and new Lumia phones expected to showcase at Microsoft’s October 6th event
The much talked about Surface Pro 4, as well as Microsoft’s new Lumia flagship phones are expected to be launched at a New York press event on October 6th. The event will showcase a number of Microsoft’s new products that run Windows 10. This will include the above, and also the Microsoft Band 2. Although Microsoft has yet to confirm in detail what hardware it intends to launch, reports suggest the aforementioned will feature.
What we know about the products
All we’ve heard is rumors so far, but we’ve heard lots of them and they seem credible. The Surface Pro 4 might just be the pièce de résistance. From what we’ve heard the device will be faster, thinner and lighter than its predecessor. It’s expected to have a larger display – as large as 14 inches. It should also include Microsoft’s Windows Hello biometric sign-in. The cost, depending on model, is rumored to be anywhere from $500-$1,300. It’s uncertain if the stylus pen which will surely come with the device will be an added cost or included in the price.
It will be interesting to see how it fairs in sales against the new Apple iPad Pro. If you want to see them go head-to-head in terms of specs, read our Surface Pro 4 vs. Apple iPad Pro article.
The Phones
Leaks about these two flagship Lumia phones have been trickling into the internet for some time now. We know there will be the Cityman (aka Lumia 950 XL), and also the Talkman (aka Lumia 950). There shouldn’t be too much difference between the two devices, although the Cityman is bigger (5.7 inch display) than the Talkman (5.2 inch). The processors will also be different with the phones packing the Snapdragon 810 and 808 respectively. They should also feature Windows Hello.
The Watch
The Microsoft Band 2 is the only product that hasn’t much been discussed among the three. According to reports there have been numerous complaints along the same lines about the company’s first wearable, and so Microsoft has been working on fixing what consumers didn’t like. That’s about all we know for now.
