Is Oracle the Tesla of IT? | #oow15
“Oracle is zigging when everyone else is zagging,” said Wikibon’s Brian Gracely, cohost of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, during Oracle OpenWorld 2015.
theCUBE analysts, including Gracely, John Furrier, Dave Vellante and Stu Miniman, gathered for a roundtable recap of the morning’s keynote address and to kick off day four of the event.
Answering Furrier’s question: Is Oracle positioning itself as the Tesla of the IT industry? Vellante gave a resounding yes. He sees Oracle as having the advantage of being valued as a software company, yet it owns hardware assets.
Oracle vs. everyone else?
The battle is Oracle vs. everyone else, according to Miniman. Oracle has a strong team and is hyperoptimizing customer demand for the hybrid cloud by making the same model available on-prem and in the cloud. Oracle is “intersecting at the right time to be ready for this battle,” he said.
