TAG Heuer’s backup plan in case its smartwatch fails

ConnectedTAG Heuer S.A. has unveiled its Connected smartwatch, offering the classic look and feel of the watches for which the company is famous but with modern technologies found in today’s smartwatches. While the luxury market is opening up to connected devices and wearables, what makes Connected unique is that, if after two years you tire of its smart features, you can trade it in for a traditional TAG Heuer watch.

Fossil to acquire Misfit for $260M

MisfitFossil Group, Inc. announced that it will be acquiring fitness tracker maker Misfit, Inc. for $260 million. The acquisition will not only expand Misfit’s technology across Fossil Group’s brands, but also allow The Group to penetrate the smart wearable market better.

Edge computing provides better IoT economics, says Wikibon CTO

Wikibon CTO David Floyer weighs in on the increasing data being produced by the Internet of Things and stated that edge computing will be the key to better handling it, not to mention how cost-effective this approach will be. Floyer also mentioned other benefits of edge computing such as eliminating network issues as most data is captured and stored locally.
