Steam’s Autumn ‘Exploration sale’ is live with deals on thousands of games
The Steam Autumn Sale has finally arrived, and this year the deals all (loosely) focus on the theme of exploration, with discounts on thousands of games ranging from fan favorite indie titles like To The Moon to big name triple-A titles like Grand Theft Auto V.
It would be easy to list all of the deals offered in the sale, but instead we have listed three games that are not only fun to play and discounted at incredibly low prices, but they also live up to the exploration theme of the Steam sale.
Keep in mind that Valve has already said that there will be no Daily Deals or Flash Sales for the Autumn sale or for the upcoming winter sale, so the current prices will not change until the sale ends on December 1.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt | $29.99 | 50% off
Polish studio CD Projekt RED has one-upped itself with each new Witcher game, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is hands down their best game yet. It also happens to do exploration better than just about any game out there, with hundreds of encounters scattered across a sprawling landscape filled with monsters, ghosts, and other nasty surprises.
While most players would have no problem jumping into the series with Wild Hunt, now is also a great time to get caught up with the first two games, as you can pick up the entire trilogy for only $34.39.
The Long Dark (Early Access) | $10.99 | 40% off
There are no shortage of survival games on Steam Early Access, but none of them hold a candle to The Long Dark. First of all, there are thankfully no zombies in the game, which already puts it ahead of most of the crap on Early Access.
What really sets the game apart, however, is its bleak and unforgiving landscape, which can turn from a sunny peaceful morning into a brutal winter storm with almost no warning, and players who are caught unaware can find themselves desperately sprinting through the woods in search of any kind of shelter before they die of hypothermia.
In The Long Dark, you will spend your days searching for food and water, mending your clothing, and avoiding wolves, and at night you will crouch next to whatever source of warmth you can find as you struggle to catch at least a few hours of sleep.
Terraria | $3.39 | 66% off
Once you get past the pixel art graphics and obvious Minecraft comparisons, you realize that Terraria is an incredibly deep and complex game with a nearly endless amount of exploration and experimentation involved.
The early game is a bit slow and has a somewhat steep learning curve, but once you are able to scratch beneath the surface (quite literally) you will get hours and hours of enjoyment that make $3.39 seem like an absolute steal. The ability to play in the same world with up to four friends makes it even better.
