Are we headed for a new application boom? | #HPEDiscover
As fully integrated software and DevOps spread to more and more businesses, the possibilities of rapid application creation and deployment are growing. According to K.C. Choi, VP of global solutions architecture and engineering at Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co. (HPE), the appetite for fresh, more user friendly applications is present and pulsing. However, he said that whether or not we will experience a new application explosion to rival the one of the 1990s is still a “crystal-ball question.”
The new world of application development
During HPE Discover 2015 in London, John Furrier and Dave Vellante, cohosts of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, asked Choi to give his take on the new world of application development.
“I think this next wave is different,” Choi said. “I think it’s going to be much more built on an open construct. I think it’s going to be platform based.” He added that vertical integration will become less important as the move to lightweight infrastructure progresses. “I think it’s going to be primarily based on who can provide the best ecosystem for that versus again being the vertical integrator of all of that.”
