Walli is a crowdfunded smart wallet that alerts you if you leave your wallet or card behind
The team behind Walli, “the world’s smartest wallet”, wants to remove the hassle of ever having to replace your wallet or its contents when you misplace it. Once connected to your smartphone, you will receive an alert on the Walli app if you forget your wallet at home or leave a credit card behind at a store.
Walli Wearables has launched a crowdfunding campaign for the Walli smart wallet on Indiegogo and, with six days to go, they have raised 447 percent of their initial goal of $25,000. The company’s campaign has currently raised $111,660, at the time of writing, from 1,237 backers.
Securing your wallet and its contents
Walli, a genuine leather, dust-proof wallet, connects to your smartphone via Bluetooth and the app works on both Android and iOS. If you forget your wallet at home or a restaurant, the Walli app will send an alert to your phone to let you know that you forgot your wallet. If the reverse happens and you have your Walli, but cannot locate your smartphone, simply double tap your smart wallet and if your phone is within 100ft an alarm will sound, even if it is in silent mode.
Walli also has patent-pending technology called SecurePockets that will alert you if a card is missing from a certain pocket. You can set a time limit on the app and if a card is not back in the pocket within the period the app will alert you on your smartphone, ensuring you can avoid the hassle of replacing your credit card or driver’s license.
Walli does not require charging, but rather comes with a coin cellbattery that will last up to six months. The smart wallet is RFID protected and the team is working on making the wallet waterproof.
The company also has a Walli Travel wallet that contains the same wallet and pocket tracking as the Walli smart wallet, but the larger size ensures you can carry your passport and air tickets securely.
You can get your own Walli for a pledge of $89, a saving of $30 off the expected retail price. If all goes to plan, shipping will start in February 2016.
