Is digitization a true win-win for bosses and employees? | #EC16
Technology has changed the way we work in many ways over the years, and now the moment we’ve all been waiting for is here — it is going to help up work less. At least that is according to Craig Walker, founder and CEO of Dialpad, Inc. Formerly Switch.co, Dialpad is a communications technology company used by 60 percent of Fortune 500 companies.
Walker told John Furrier, host of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, that the digital transformation is sweeping through the working world, and the results are making both workers and bosses happy. “People coming out of college today, the way they work is entirely different than when I came out of college,” Walker said.
He used Dialpad as an example of how digital communications can cut down on office hours and increase productivity. He explained, “Our own company, we’re 140 people — we work from home a couple days a week … so productive.” He mentioned one of Dialpad’s customers was saving seven figures a year through use of the platform.
Good work is good timing
Walker maintained that it is the perfect storm of cloud, open-source, digital telephony and other developments that is enabling the transformation. He also stated that WebRTC (Web Real-Time Communication) provides an amazing open-source standard that the company can build on.
