Science: The IZIVIBE is an iPhone case that doubles as a vibrator
The term “what will science think of next” is often used facetiously and often with good reason; it also turns out to be the only starting line we could think of when to describe the arguably most not safe for work (NSFW) iPhone case we have ever laid eyes on: the IZIVIBE.
As the name may suggest, the IZIVIBE is an iPhone case that doubles as a vibrator, or a pink unicorn horn if you’re under the age of 18 and you’re not supposed to know about these things.
Claimed to be the world’s first sex toy which uses the vibrations of your smartphone, the phone is (thankfully … we think) more than simply a case with a vibrator that has been designed with surgical and hypoallergenic silicone, but also comes with its own app for iPhone and Apple Watch which allows users to “play solo … or together even when you’re apart!
The app itself provides 7 vibration modes that can be adjusted by the control volume or slider to “adjust intensity easily,” and a “hands-free mode” includes the ability to program a series of vibrations into the app per a particular users’ favorite playlist, for lack of a better term.
Those “playlists” can also be shared with family and friends, because you know nothing says sharing and caring like sharing your good vibrations.
Concerns
Concerns about the morals of such a product are up to the individual, but there are two concerns about the product which are worthy of bringing up: is it actually real and is it really clean?
As Hackread points out “a major concern is if it is hygienic to use a phone as a vibrator? How clean is your phone? According to a 2010 study cthe average mobile phone can harbor 18 times more living bacteria than a flush handle on a gents’ toilet,” implying more simply that using your phone to pleasure yourself sexually may not be the cleanest thing you can do, particularly given that unlike the Samsung Galaxy S7 an iPhone can’t be washed.
The last concern is ours and that’s something that came up during our research for the product: is it actually real?
News of the product first emerged in November 2015 with a promised delivery date of January this year, and yet it’s March and there’s no release date or price mentioned on the site, and the company’s Twitter page hasn’t been updated in 5 months.
If it smells like fishy vaporware it probably is, but stranger things have happened, like whatever is going on in the head of the person who came up with the idea to begin in.
