Is your DevOps mature? Find out with Automic’s assessment service
Today Automic Software GmbH announced the release of new features expanding its business automation services for application release orchestration, continuous delivery and DevOps automation. The new services also include new pipeline visualization tools, open-source community driven content, Marketplace integration, online maturity assessments and a multi-tenant cloud sandbox for prospects to try before buying.
Automic Software GmbH is an international business automation leader with headquarters in the United States in Bellevue, WA and Europe in Vienna, Austria. Operating since 1985, Automic brought its first “job scheduler” software to market in 1996 and has been expanding its services and software capabilities ever since. Now the company delivers on-premise cloud, Big Data, Internet of Things and DevOps solutions to over 2,600 customers including Netflix, eBay and Vodafone.
“In an era where 24/7, always-on connectivity and engagement are critical, it is important that businesses adopt agile and flexible technology, such as Release Automation, to gain competitive advantage and respond at the speed of customer expectations,” said Julie Craig, Research Director, Enterprise Management Associates. ”Release Automation is one of the key technologies which IT leaders can use to drive digital business initiatives. Automic Release Automation offers users easy-to-use, rich and powerful release management features while also leveraging the breadth and depth of a unified business automation platform.”
New features and upgrades to Automatic’s DevOps services
First up is Automic’s “try before you buy” service that uses the company’s multi-tenant cloud-based sandbox, the first of its kind in the Automatic Release Automation Market.
The next part of the Automic Release Automation services includes a new pipeline visualization dashboard plugin. With this feature Dev and Ops together can visualize the entire development pipeline from start to finish with the touch of a button. The idea is to ease understanding of the big-picture for the entire team to better permit orchestration of concurrent releases throughout an organization.
The multi-tenant cloud platform permits deployment for enterprise clients to private and public clouds (potentially even at the same time) using the Application Release Automation platform product. The service is designed to service enterprise organizations with an orchestration back-end capable of serving multiple sub-clients in isolation from one another from a single platform to help drive down cost of ownership by simplifying operations and management.
How mature is your DevOps?
Finally, for the DevOps teams working deep in enterprise Automic has added a unique DevOps maturity assessment service. This service provides an online assessment tool that enterprise clients can use to determine if their current DevOps culture and team line up with current industry standards and expectations. The “maturity model” used by Automic follows what the company believes are key dimensions of maturity: Culture & Strategy; Automation capabilities; Structure & Processes; and Collaboration & Sharing.
The assessment, which is a survey of questions that can then be compared against Automic’s own model, the established standards of the industry itself, peers in the industry or the region.
All new plugins and services are available in the Automic Marketplace and Automic Release Automation is immediately available for general release.
