Can ServiceNow give the best in security a run for their money? | #Know16
With the growing size and complexity of IT comes growing risks of security breaches. Many are now saying it’s not a matter if you are breached, but when, so the task is to learn how to manage the breaches as they arise.
Bart Murphy, CIO and CTO of CareWorks Family of Companies, said that the “when, not if” philosophy may be playing to fear, but if companies are jittery, they can put up automated barriers to ease some of the anxiety.
Murphy told Dave Vellante (@dvellante) and Jeff Frick (@JeffFrick), cohosts of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, during ServiceNow Knowledge16 that ServiceNow, Inc.’s built-in security features can offer cutting-edge automated protection.
“I’m really excited about the automation and security component within ServiceNow,” he said. “Properly integrated with some of the other tools that we have, there’s a lot that the system can do that a human can’t get to fast enough that will actually shut down and manage that really well.”
The CMBD journey
For those excited about ServiceNow’s promise of integration into a single CMBD [configuration management database], Murphy’s comments may be sobering.
“It’s the goal; I don’t know if you ever achieve it,” he said, referring to his company’s efforts to move everything onto a single database. He is hopeful that they will get there, but said, “I think it does take a lot of time.”
