Israel’s Proov raises $7M for its proof-of-concept cloud

There’s much more to buying software in the enterprise than just choosing the vendor with the most appealing value proposition. Organizations must also painstakingly test every product to see whether it works with their existing infrastructure, a task that Proov Inc. is looking to simplify.

The Israeli startup today raised $7 million from Mangrove Capital Partners and equity crowdfunding firm OurCrowd to drive the adoption of its proof-of-concept platform, which provides a hosted environment for piloting software. It can emulate an organization’s internal environment so that third party solutions may be tested under the same conditions they’re expected to endure in production. From there, administrators are able to check if the software is up to snuff using a set of built-in monitoring capabilities.

Proov’s platform provides insight into most of everything from how well an application handles encrypted traffic to the performance of its backend components. And according to the startup’s website, it’s even possible to plug proof-of-concept deployments into external services like Amazon Inc.’s Redshift data warehouse to see if they interoperate properly. The outfit claims that the functionality enables organizations to perform testing so much more easily than traditional approaches that multiple pilots can be run side by side.

And top it off, using Proov’s platform is also convenient for the vendors on the other end of the software supply chain, which can use a built-in chat function to help potential customers with their proof-of-concepts. The startup has already build out an ecosystem of more than 350 vendors and enterprises that it plans to expand even further using today’s funding. The end-goal is to create an environment where organizations are able to quickly try out different products without the numerous logistical hurdles traditionally involved the software procurement process.
