ControlUp Raises $10M for operations monitoring platform

ControlUp Technologies Ltd. has raised $10 million in a series B funding round to build a U.S. presence for its analytics platform for information technology operations.

ControlUp’s technology is used by organizations running hybrid clouds to measure performance metrics of virtual machine hypervisors and guest operating systems. The software gives administrators a high-level view of their IT operations and performance metrics, with the ability to drill down to individual processes and folders to spot trouble areas.

ControlUp also provides cost data to enable fine-tuning of cloud services. “We can show the customer exactly which metric in the data center varies from the normal range,” said Asaf Ganot, ControlUp’s founder and chief executive. “If you’re on Amazon Web Services, we can tell you how much other customers are paying for similar instances to help you rightsize your virtual machines.”

Administrators can launch queries from with VMware Inc.’s VCenter or Microsoft’s Hyper-V. Agents in each VM identify processes suffering from long latency and provide alerts in real time. The company makes a free version available for monitoring up to 200 VMs. ControlUp joined the Microsoft Enterprise Cloud Alliance last August and extended its tools to support Hyper-V and Microsoft Azure-based workloads both in on-premises data centers and in hybrid clouds.

The latest round was led by K1 Capital and Jerusalem Venture Partners. It brings the company’s total funding to $13.3 million.
