Zentura boosts productivity in legal sector with virtualization solution
As Nutanix Inc. continues its journey toward expanding offerings beyond hyperconverged infrastructure, an increasing number of businesses with the need for both improvements in process and plans to move closer to the cloud are adopting the platform as their solution. Companies like Zentura, a business-critical information technology service focusing on legal and accounting customers, see Nutanix as an opportunity to stay competitive through this period of digital transformation, according to Christian Pedersen (pictured), chief executive officer of Zentura.
“The development of our platform was quite fragmented over the years. … What really was a huge game changer was when Nutanix introduced AHV [virtualization solution for the enterprise cloud]. … Putting the whole stack into the cloud, you don’t have to rely on external management,” Pedersen said. Through his work with Nutanix, Pedersen has seen huge improvements in internal productivity and customer satisfaction.
Pedersen spoke with Stu Miniman (@stu), co-host of theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s mobile livestreaming studio, during the Nutanix .NEXT EU event in Nice, France. They discussed Zentura’s journey using the Nutanix platform and what Pedersen hopes to develop through their partnership in the future. (* Disclosure below.)
‘We have spare time now’
Before working with Nutanix, Zentura was limited by the time and manpower it took to process releases, only security patching when absolutely critical because of the downtime required. “We didn’t do major release upgrades, because we had so many issues,” Pedersen said. The company transitioned partially to VMware to solve migration efficiency issues, but found the solution’s cost unmanageable at scale.
The introduction of Nutanix AHV ultimately catalyzed Pedersen’s decision to fully adopt Nutanix. To avoid unnecessary costs and complication, Zentura decided to switch existing infrastructure and migrate all legacy workloads onto Nutanix at once, a process that took four to six months. “It’s now or never, because this is going to be our window of opportunity to grow and expand,” Pedersen said.
The decision quickly proved beneficial to the company, supporting Zentura in streamlining processes internally, as well as for customers. The company is currently developing an automatic billing model that sends status reports to customers for greater accountability and organization. “I think we’ve cut the time to one-tenth of what we did before for managing infrastructure,” Pedersen said.
Pedersen’s experience with Nutanix has been so positive that he’s made Zentura a channel partner to the company. “We have spare time now. Why don’t we use our knowledge and sell this product,” he said.
The Zentura team is already working with a few customers signed up for the disaster recovery service on its AHV platform. For Pedersen, it’s easy to see use cases and evangelize the Nutanix solution for customers with a range of needs. “What I really like about Nutanix is there’s not a one-size fits all,” he concluded.
