Minjar acquisition by Nutanix offers security, compliance and cost control for multicloud journey
Nutanix Inc. added the first software as a service product to its portfolio with the acquisition in March of Minjar Inc. The new offering included Minjar’s Botmetric intelligent cloud optimization tool, designed to deliver automated financial governance, security and compliance for the multicloud environment. The new tool was officially rolled out this month as Nutanix Beam, a multicloud governance offering for most cloud platforms.
“We’re focused on helping customers deliver governance across their consumption from a cost perspective and compliance from a security perspective,” said Vijay Rayapati (pictured, right), general manager of Nutanix Beam. “What we’re focused on is how to solve operational issues on a day-to-day basis.”
Rayapati spoke with Stu Miniman (@stu), host of theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s mobile livestreaming studio, and guest host Keith Townsend (@CTOAdvisor), at the Nutanix NEXT US event in New Orleans. He was joined by Binny Gill (pictured, left), chief technology officer of cloud services at Nutanix, and they discussed cloud control features offered by Nutanix Beam and the focus on a seamless customer experience. Closing gap between insight and action
Beam is designed to leverage Minjar’s Botmetric technology to close the gap between cloud analysis products, which offered visibility and insight versus remediation for issues actually found.
“One of the interesting things that Beam does is it can also predict what the cost is going to be at the end of the month,” Gill said. “That gives you more control so that if an over expenditure is going to happen, you can take action today.”
The Nutanix software is also focused on reducing complexity within multicloud architectures, distilling public and private clouds into a common operating model for simpler administration.
“With Nutanix there’s a lot of emphasis on [customer] experience,” Rayapati said. “There is a lot of thinking going on for how to bring a common experience that is seamless, rather than having different endpoints. We will continue to work and innovate on that front.”
