Cloudflare teams up with US Signal for new denial-of-service protection offering
Leading content delivery network provider Cloudflare Inc. today announced a new denial-of-service protection service in conjunction with information technology solutions provider US Signal Co. LLC.
Claimed to deliver a powerful DDoS mitigation for network, transport and application layers, the service uses Cloudflare’s global Anycast network in conjunction with US Signal’s information security and provisioning team, with added support and customization from technical operations engineers.
“With DDoS Protection from US Signal, customers get priority routing and dedicated IP addresses on Cloudflare’s network,” the company said in a release. “Alongside unparalleled DDoS protection, US Signal customers achieve performance improvements through Cloudflare’s existing DNS and CDN architecture while US Signal engineers can leverage other tools such as code minification and image optimization to further improve performance.”
The service is pitched as ideal for companies looking to update their existing DDoS mitigation strategies or for businesses lacking the manpower or skills to manage these risks internally, and particularly beneficial for sectors such as tech, government, finance and healthcare.
Cloudflare has continued to go from strength to strength despite competition from the likes of Amazon.com Inc. and Google LLC. It now offers support for 15 terabits per second plus network throughput that is claimed to handle 15 times more traffic than the largest DDoS attack has produced to date.
The company has continued to innovate, including the launch of a free consumer-focused DNS service in April that it delivers users a quicker and more private internet experience.
Cloudflare was also in the news Tuesday with the launch of a new “one-click” DNSSEC service available to customers via their dashboard. TechCrunch reported that the service aims to remove a major pain-point “in adopting the web security standard, which many haven’t set up — either because it’s so complicated and arduous, or too expensive.”
