When a slight majority of users know how to take advantage of various technology solutions, yet nearly half cannot, the natural reaction is how to work out a way to bring the rest along. That’s the thinking that put Liberty Technology Inc., a managed service provider, on the DevNet Create event session agenda this week in Mountain View, California.

The motivation for the session, led by Tony Cuevas (pictured), director of solutions architecture and DevOps at Liberty, came from a presentation by Cisco Systems Inc. According to Cisco, 55% of its partners were creating their own applications.

“At Liberty, we saw that and said, ‘what about the other 45%?’” Cuevas said.

The result was a session called “Orchestrate the 45%,” where Cuevas will offer attendees insight into how to close the application development gap. “We have a platform which has the ability to integrate with multiple business processes,” Cuevas said. ‘If you have a client out there that needs an extra arm into their information technology, we’re there for them.”

Cuevas spoke with John Furrier (@furrier) and Lisa Martin (@LisaMartinTV), co-hosts of theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s mobile livestreaming studio, during the DevNet Create event. They discussed the various tools used by Liberty to help its clients and Cuevas’ impressions of the DevNet community (see the full interview with transcript here). (* Disclosure below.)

Leveraging collaboration tools

Part of Liberty’s solution involves leveraging technology to draw on collaboration tools such as ConnectWise, a software company and Cisco partner, that links tech teams to solutions. Liberty uses ConnectWise Unite with Cisco to help streamline services, along with other tools for its clients to support a customer base that includes a number of organizations in the public sector.

“We help them with Office 365, security, Meraki,” Cuevas said. “That’s how we bring collaboration into the public sector.”

Cuevas has worked in the voice/collaboration space since 2003 and is certified as a Cisco Webex Master. When he’s not solving the 45% gap, he’s enjoying the opportunity to mix with other developers as part of the DevNet community that Cisco has created.

“I’m enjoying this a lot,” Cuevas said. “I like the tight niche, the community style of this event.”
