Israeli startup Orca Security comes out of stealth with $6.5M from YL Ventures
Israeli cloud cybersecurity startup Orca Security emerged from stealth mode today with a $6.5 million seed round from YL Ventures to allow it to develop its full-stack visibility security platform.
Founded by former Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. Chief Technologist Avi Shua and Gil Geron, former director for Cyber Security Gateway and Cloud Products (pictured) the startup is developing the Orca Cloud Visibility Platform.
Created using patent-pending SideScanning technology, the platform has been designed to deliver comprehensive and seamless visibility into the security posture of an organization’s complete cloud footprint in a matter of minutes.
Although only coming out of stealth with the funding announcement today, Orca Security has a number of customers on board. The company found that on average those organizations have previously lacked security visibility into 50% or more of their cloud infrastructure footprint.
Orca’s pitch is all about next-generation cybersecurity provision. “In minutes, Orca can close the gap completely by providing forensic level visibility inside of every virtual machine to expose issues such as operating system and application level vulnerabilities and compromises,” the company claimed.
Some of those next-gen features include the ability to make automatic assessments of the security state of every discovered asset throughout the entire technology stack, including the cloud control plane, operating system, applications and business data.
“It is an almost impossible task for CISOs to answer security questions about their organizations’ sprawling cloud deployments,” Orca Chief Executive Shua said in a statement. “But organizations shouldn’t be forced to choose between slowing down innovation and accepting unseen and unmanaged risks. We, as a security industry, can and should do better.”
The Orca Cloud Visibility Platform is now in limited availability to qualified customers with full general availability coming before the end of the year.
