Loaded and launched, Valtix turbocharges network security to DevOps speeds

Choose one: Fast and vulnerable, or slow and safe? These might be acceptable options for, say, a river-rafting trip. But not when it comes to securing a cloud computing network. Yet, security bottlenecks are throttling the speed and agility of cloud, creating a frustrating catch-22 choice for enterprise.

“The main reason people are going to cloud is because of the agility,” said Vishal Jain (pictured, left), co-founder and chief executive officer of Valtix Inc. “And network security should not stop that.”

Jain and Brian Lazear (pictured, right), chief product officer of Valtix, spoke with John Furrier (@furrier) and Dave Vellante (@dvellante), co-hosts of theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s mobile livestreaming studio, during the AWS re:Inforce event in Boston. They discussed Valtrix’s value proposition and the technology behind its solutions to scale network security into the cloud (see the full interview with transcript here). (* Disclosure below.)

Cloud-native platform provides agile security option

“We give a third option, which is agile and secure,” Jain stated, describing Valtix’s first-in-class, cloud-native network security platform. The company, which just exited stealth mode, has raised $14 million in funding.

The company was formed to combat the failure of network security to keep pace with cloud development.

“We saw that network security has challenges in how to scale in the cloud,” Jain stated. He gives three reasons: “The main thing is that the cloud is sprawling … it’s a new logical parameter you’re seeing. Second thing we saw was that the apps are agile. And the third thing is security is always falling behind DevOps. So, we want to make network security to be scaled with apps,” Jain explained.

As a cloud-native platform, Valtix can keep pace with the apps it is designed to protect and automatically provide unified visibility and enforcement. “We have a [centralized cloud] controller that will discover all your apps, so, an enterprise can have apps that cross your accounts and cross your cloud even,” Jain said.

The cloud controller is backed up by the Valtix cloud firewall. Joined, they provide cloud-native scalability, agility and speed coupled with unified multicloud security.

“This is clearly transformative … a big market opportunity to help customers,” Lazear concluded.
