Jaspersoft Joins Google’s Cloud Connector Platform

BI software maker Jaspersoft made a new open source connector available for Google BigQuery customers that are interested in running its dashboarding and reporting tools on the Google Cloud Platform.  Jaspersoft announced at the same time that it’s now a member of the Google Cloud Platform Partner Program.

“The Google Cloud Platform Partner Program enables us to integrate our product offerings for Business Intelligence with the power of the Google Cloud Platform,” said Karl Van den Bergh, Vice President of Product and Alliances at Jaspersoft.  “The Google Cloud Platform offers a broad set of application development, cloud storage, large scale computing, and big data capabilities that provides us with the opportunity to make Big Data reporting and analysis available to customers for any type of data.”

BigQuery is a web service that lists ease of use and a lot of scalability – being able to analyze up to billions of rows – as its two biggest strengthens. Via this new connector users will be able to use it alongside Jasperosft’s business intelligence interface, and at the same time take advantage of several other things.  Jasper’s software supports Google’s OAuth authentication anda claims that its connector can offer “unparalleled ease and speed.”

Analytics in the cloud is a growing trend that’s being spearheaded by smaller players, as well as companies like Jaspersoft that are jumping on the opportunity. And at the same time open-source is evolving just as fast – this is one area that the vendor has also been playing attention to.

JasperForge.org is a developer portal that the company maintains. It’s not unlike GitHub, and last month the company released some figures that shed some new light on what the community has been up to this year. Demand in the top categories has increased by as much as 70 percent.
