ICM Launches Search.xxx for All Your Porn Needs
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) granted the ICM Registry sole control of the .xxx domain which gave an opportunity for brands, celebrities, organizations etc. to either secure a .xxx domain if they are porn-related or to make sure that their name won’t be used by porn sites or other malicious individuals to lure people in.
Not everyone in the porn industry thought it was necessary to have a .xxx domain distinction, especially those who are already well established. But the point of having a .xxx domain is mainly for the porn enthusiasts. The ICM wanted to make searching or identifying porn sites easier.
But the ICM wanted to make porn search safer as well. Search.xxx sets out to make your porn experience safer by scanning the sites for viruses and malware; narrowing search results to a user’s particular taste; and separates a user’s search for porn material from the rest of your searches on the web, as it only searches for sites with .xxx domains.
“It’s the same dirty porn that you’d get in [sites ending with] .com, but in a safe, more controlled environment,” Stuart Lawley, the CEO of ICM Registry, said in an interview with The Huffington Post.
Lawley stated that they’ve been working with a number of developers to make perfect solution for the search engine so that it would work well for the users.
“We’ve had teams of people, 6 or 7 developers, working on this for the better part of a year now,” Lawley says, “and we’ve been through various iterations before we’ve hit on the right way of doing it. It’s our secret sauce as Google has its secret sauce. We’ve made it look and feel as much as we can like a regular search experience.”
When you visit the .xxx search engine, you’ll be greeted with a very simple white page with a custom button on the left corner so you can change the theme, and on the right you’ll see buttons for language and orientation customization. At the bottom, you’ll see a warning regarding what the site offers and you have to click the option stating whether you’re 18 years old or older or if you are not. When you click the “I am 18+” button, the search bar appears and you can begin typing what exactly you are looking for. It’s as easy as using Google.
