Strata + Hadoop World 2012: Expectations and Trends We’re Watching
October may just be the biggest month of the year for big data. The upcoming Strata Conference + Hadoop World gathering in New York will be co-presented by both O’Reilly and Cloudera, and will provide an opportunity to gain a very comprehensive view of where the industry is situated today.
From October 23rd through the 25th companies and organizations from several different verticals will showcase their new products. The exhibitor list includes all the rising stars of the big data space, including HortonWorks, MapR and Splunk. Cisco, Microsoft and Intel have also reserved booths and even the CIA and a number of consultancies will be represented at the event.
The workshops, and keynotes in particular are also traditionally a huge part of Strata. Speakers at the upcoming conference include MapR chief executive John Schroeder, who will discuss the value of Hadoop in the enterprise, and executive from Metamarkets.
Metamarkets platform leverages a re-tweaked version of Hadoop, in-memory processing and other technologies to analyze information for web-scale companies. The startup knows big data, and CEO Michael Driscoll together with lead architect Eric Tschetter will host a much-anticipated session on day two.
Among the other industry insiders who will speak at Strata is Netflix director of data science Kurt Brown, Google’s Jim Caputo, as well as Cloudera exe and Apache contributor Doug Cutting.
SiliconAngle will deliver continuous coverage from theCube and our other channels all throughout the event. Be sure to tune in for product updates and new insight from the experts on the showroom floor.
