Facebook Snags Another Googler: Ad Exec David Fischer
Our friend Kara Swisher has another great scoop over at AllThingsD:
David Fischer–who was VP of Global Online Sales & Operations for Google and more recently was heading up its local efforts–is taking a job at Facebook as VP of Advertising and Global Operations, according to sources.
Both Google (GOOG) and Facebook just sent out an internal memo about the move this morning, which BoomTown is attempting to obtain.
He was Sandberg’s top deputy when she ran the core self-serve ad business at Google and took over her job when she left for Facebook two years ago. The pair also worked together at the Treasury Department in Washington, D.C. in the Clinton administration.
This just is another demonstration as to how Facebook is bringing on all key people from Google. They are taking all the leadership from the mid 2000s.
It is almost a direct tie-in, in my view, to the recent reports on Facebook Insights, and it’s possible competition with Google Analytics, making them a threat to Google, and not necessarily anyone else. Their infrastructure products will continue to be a platform to enable user experience products that monetize through advertising and Apps – a total play from Google book.
