Google Glass Could Easily Push Apple Rival Ahead in Mobile Ecosystem #I/O2013

Google Glass live demo at Google I/O 2012

It has been established that Google I/O 2013 will be all about the developers but that doesn’t mean than Google is about to snub its consumers.  There will be product launches but they may not be what people really want to hear about.

SiliconANGLE will be covering the event so you’ll be sure to get the latest news from the search giant.  We expect to hear announcements regarding Google Glass, Google Maps, Android, other Google services, and there’s talks of a new Nexus 7 to be unveiled and the Nexus Q making a comeback as a gamebox.

At last year’s event, Google co-founder Sergey Brin interrupted the keynote to show people what the Google Glass has to offer.  There were skydivers wearing Google Glass who landed at the event, so people are wondering if Brin will pull another Google Glass stunt, or if the event will be more low-key this year.

With all the hype surrounding Google Glass, there’s still the question of whether or not it will actually be a game changer.  Does Google Glass have the potential to change the mobile world, as Apple did with the iPhone?

Joining Kristin Feledy in this morning’s Live NewsDesk Show is Wikibon Senior Analyst Stu Miniman with his Breaking Analysis regarding the future of Google Glass.

Miniman stated that Google Glass is right in the center of augmented reality and wearable computing, saying that it’s “pushing the limits to where computing has gone,” and has the “potential to be the game changer in wearable computing.”  People who were able to already get their hands on Google Glass are gushing about the device.  Still, Miniman questions whether the device will go mainstream or if it will just appeal to people who loves gadgets and the technology.
