Millennial Media Releases their iPad SDK
News showed up in FierceMobile this morning that Millennial Media is one of the first companies to create a monetization kit for iPad applications (and beating out others, like AdMob-Google):
Mobile advertising firm Millennial Media announced the imminent release of its PadMedia Creative Suite and related SDK, promising a suite of new ad formats optimized for Apple’s new iPad tablet device. According to Millennial, PadMedia Creative Suite offers advertisers ad units including Floating Canvas (giving advertisers the option to determine where a rich media ad expands upon click), Return-to-Play (a format tailored for entertainment developers that allows users to pause their app experience long enough to respond to an ad), Motion Creative (which exploits the iPad accelerometer to incorporate interactive features that respond to iPad movements and rotations) and Full-page Interstitials (which appear upon launch or during transition in gameplay).
The PadMedia Creative Suite will be included in the iPad SDK, scheduled for release on Friday. Millennial adds the new iPad SDK is code complete, and will be deployed after on-device beta testing is finalized this week. Developers will be able to download the SDK through the firm’s mmDev portal.
Inclusion in the SDK will do wonders for Millennial’s penetration of the iPad market. This could also have the effect of potentially leaving AdMob, who leans heavily on the iPhone for their market penetration, in the dust. According to many other sources, the AdMob iPad SDK won’t be available for several months.
