SnapLogic Connects Tableau to the Big Data Universe

SnapLogic has announced the availability of a pre-packaged Snap for Tableau’s newly launched data visualization service. The San Mateo-based cloud integration specialist says that its latest connector supports over 160 data sources, including on-premise apps, popular cloud solutions such as Salesforce and ServiceNow, and major social networking sites.

SnapLogic touts that the connector enables users to plug data sources into their Tableau deployments “without deep technical expertise and at a fraction of the cost” of manual integration. They can achieve this using a drag and drop interface and a set of pre-built functions.

“Business users need to stay on top of the signals generated by ever-changing business data. Rapid insight into this data is a critical competitive differentiator today and Tableau delivers immediate insights into data by detecting trends, patterns and relationships,” said Gaurav Dhillon the founder and chief executive officer of SnapLogic. “Integrating data from SaaS and on-premise apps into Tableau helps enterprises become more agile and responsive to the new data-driven world.”

SnapLogic’s decision to jump on the Tableau bandwagon underlines the rapid growth of the data visualization space. This segment became the center of attention in April after Tableau filed for a $150 million initial public offering.

The company’s stock shot up to $31 on the day of its stock market debut, a massive increase that amounted to a total of $254.2 million. Wikibon analyst Jeff Kelly later explained that investors took interest in Tableau because it’s “very successful inside that data scientist community,” a factor that “sets them apart from some of the other business developing tools.” He named the self-service capabilities of the firm’s platform as another major advantage, especially for enterprise users who wish to sidestep their IT departments.
