The iPhone 5c vs Moto X Head-To-Head

Not many were pleased about the iPhone 5c’s plastic casing, but at least it comes available in a bunch of different colors and you can buy a silicon casing for extra customization.  It also doesn’t hurt that it’s cheaper on network contracts.  But is the customization offered by the iPhone 5c enough to get the attention of consumers who are looking for something unique, or will this be an opportunity for Motorola to finally get back on the saddle?

iPhone 5c vs Moto X Design

iPhone 5c: Back cover is made up of hard polycarbonate material available in white, pink, blue, green and yellow.  All the buttons, except for the Home button, is in the same color of the casing.  The wallpaper reflects the same color as the case, and there are silicon microfiber casings that comes in the same color as the iPhone 5c, plus back, so you can either match it or mix it up.

Moto X: $199 with a two-year carrier contract, no news yet as to how much the device alone costs, but Motorola says a more affordable version will be coming soon but there are also reports suggesting that it might see a $100 price cut to give way for the Nexus 5.

Special features

iPhone 5c: Nothing much on the hardware as everything new lies in the new iOS.  The apps have been revamped, security tightened, Siri upgraded, the look and UI was also changed.

Moto X: Always-on screen notifications, Always-on voice commands, quick camera launch, new UI

And the winner is…

There’s nothing really special about the iPhone 5c, except that it comes in cute colors so it’s probably aimed at the younger generation.  If customization is what you’re after, the Moto X offers a lot more that just a simple silicon case, as you can choose different front and back covers as well as make the welcome screen something that screams you.

The Moto X has better front and back cameras, better screen resolution and bigger display. The only thing that would make the iPhone 5c stand out is the iOS 7, but even that’s an Android rip-off, so Moto X once again has the edge.
