Apple: New Everything Maybe Verizon – Apple WWDC World Wide Developer Conference
Apple will unveil their new stuff at their WWDC World Wide Developer Conference today.
Here is what to expect from the day:
New iPhone 4.0 – Fourth Generation
Leaked last month via the iPhone scandal with Gizmodo. Not much more to add there. Expect some cosmetic changes with dual cameras, new processors, and better battery life. For me the video chat feature will be something to watch. With the explosion of Skype on the video scene this is a killer feature.
The big news with the iPhone 4.0 is the role of AT&T. No more unlimited. However, I am expecting to hear deals with Verizon and other carriers.
New Mobile OS 4.0 – iPhone OS 4
Apps, Apps, and more Apps. Very important upgrade that will impact user experience. Advances in processing power allow for threading and mulitasking a much needed upgrade for rich media in mobile. This will be a boom for mobile ad networks such as Apple, Google, and Millennial Media.
iTunes in the cloud?
With syncing across multiple iTunes accounts being a hassle and the growth in mobility, iTunes in the cloud is something Apple needs to do. Figuring out all the tech and licensing issues will be difficult.
Video for iPhone – iChat
With the improvements to the iPhone with dual cameras and the advances in processing power it’s no brainer that video chat will be huge. I want to see Skype running on this.
Upgrade to Apple TV
There is talk of Apple TV news. Steve Jobs said he didn’t want to be in the TV business, but with Google TV I can’t help but see Apple port it’s success of iTunes and App Store to TV.
Free MobileMe
MobileMe for free? It’s about time. Syncing contacts contacts, calendar events, Macs, iPhones, iPod Touches and iPads is a must and should be included as part of the iPhone, iPad, or Macs.
Multitouch Trackpad
Engadget posted that Apple will be talking about a multitouch trackpad. This is like Apple’s current laptop touchpads, but all part of a integrated experience to connecting all the Apple devices together. To me this is the AppleTalk of this generation.
HTML 5 Big Push
On the heels of the Adobe fight Apple will be pushing HTML 5 hard. Can’t wait to see what Steve Jobs and team show here. I expect this to be "eye candy" to really put the hurt on Adobe’s reputation for being slow and not high quality.
