MuleSoft beefs up Cloud integration service with enterprise features

MuleSoft, a San Francisco-based API connectivity startup, has updated its CloudHub service to provide better support for enterprise use cases that involve both in-house infrastructure and off-premise applications.

The new release of the integration platform as a service (iPaaS) offering packs a Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) option that provides an isolated environment encrypted by a hardware-based VPN solution. According to MuleSoft, VPC delivers the same level of protection for hybrid integrations as an on-premise deployment would, which presents an attractive proposition for CIOs seeking to tap into the Big Data craze while keeping risk at a minimum.

Virtual Private Cloud is complemented by Fabric, an automated data protection capability that is billed as scalable enough to take on major traffic spikes, a fairly frequent occurrence in analytics environments that process data from external sources like social media and e-commerce websites. It also features dynamic load balancing and rapid failover to “ensure peace of mind in mission-critical deployments,” the company said in a release.

“In order to survive and thrive in the era of the New Enterprise, companies must connect their silos of cloud endpoints with on-premise systems so that mission critical information can exist wherever it needs to be to get business done,” stated Chris Purpura, the vice president and general manager of cloud integration at MuleSoft. “MuleSoft enables endpoints to be connected without boundaries while meeting enterprise reliability, security and scalability requirements. Businesses now have a seamless, enterprise-grade way to directly connect cloud-based applications and devices to their existing IT infrastructures,” he added.

VPC is available as an add-on with all CloudHub subscriptions, while Fabric is exclusive to the Enterprise tier of the company’s flagship Anypoint Platform. Launched in April, the suite includes connectors, the open-source Mule ESB integration platform, and a development environment called Mule Studio.
