ManageEngine rolls out sweeping upgrades across monitoring portfolio
Data center monitoring provider ManageEngine, a division of IT management powerhouse Zoho Corp, unveiled a set of major updates to its core products at this week’s Cisco Live conference in Milan. The portfolio revamp expands support for the networking stalwart’s products and attempts to address the rise of mobility in the enterprise.
The latest version of OpManager, ManageEngine’s networking monitoring solution, comes with a companion app for the iPad that lets admins monitor their Cisco devices and keep an eye out for performance and availability hiccups while outside the office. The application also enables the creation of custom dashboards and widgets, and includes basic troubleshooting functionality such the ability to execute console commands and run the traceroute network diagnostic tool. The new features complement Network360, a “360-degree” root cause analysis feature introduced with a previous update.
Additionally, the NetFlow Analyzer forensics platform has been integrated with Cisco’s Application Visibility and Control (AVC) software. That means users can now leverage the vendor’s extensive line of monitoring technologies, most notably the NBAR2 classification engine, to improve quality of service and application response times.
Last but not least, the DeviceExpert configuration management software has been enhanced to record and archive DeviceExpert Telnet and SSH connections for compliance purposes. Logs can now be sent directly to event management tools, functionality that ManageEngine says can streamline network analytics.
“The new IT management capabilities we’re debuting at Cisco Live Milan improve IT teams’ abilities to provide superior, non-stop business services,” commented ManageEngine president Raj Sabhlok. “The OpManager iPad app lets IT admins resolve network device issues at any time, from anywhere. NetFlow Analyzer’s AVC monitoring ensures the right network applications get the right share of network resources. And the SIEM integration in DeviceExpert fortifies overall network security.”
