Jaspersoft brings enterprise BI to Cloudera’s Enterprise Data Hub

business intelligence BI chess strategy move playerJaspersoft is bringing advanced analytics and reporting to more parts of the Hadoop ecosystem through support for the latest release of Cloudera’s flagship distribution. The integration comes a month after the embedded business intelligence (BI) provider added support for MapR’s competing platform, and underscores the maturity of the Big Data movement.

For Cloudera, the partnership provides further validation of its Enterprise Data Hub, which combines its version of Hadoop, a set of complementary open source components and professional support into an end-to-end analytics platform for the enterprise that takes after the traditional data warehouse but serves a much broader purpose.

“The way we look at this is: there’s an existing market called the EDW market, the enterprise data warehouse market, We’re saying now there’s a new market called the enterprise data hub (EDH) market. So there’s EDW and EDH,” Cloudera co-founder and CFO Amr Awadallah explained on SiliconANGLE’s theCUBE.” “Us, Cloudera, being the very first leaders of this movement, we are naming that, that is the name of our market.” In a way, the firm is following in the footsteps of Oracle, building an entire ecosystem around its production with the promise of robustness through integration.

Jaspersoft, for its part, can now boast of being among the handful of BI vendors that provide support for Cloudera’s distribution as well as its open source Impala SQL query engine. That not only opens up its solution for more use cases but extends its vision for business user productivity further into the Hadoop ecosystem. The end-goal is to make business intelligence not only accessible but practical as well.

“Most business users do not spend their day inside BI systems, nor do they want to,” Karl Van den Bergh, the head of customer relations and product at Jaspersoft, told SiliconANGLE. “They spend their day in a CRM app or an ERP or a productivity suite, you name it; they got their preferred app. Our mission is to bring information intelligence inside the applications where people spend their day.”

The combination of Jaspersoft and Hadoop allows customers to process and visualize their unstructured in a single environment, increasing productivity and reducing the time it takes to turn the raw data into actionable dashboards.
