The SA Guide to HP Vertica 2014: Live event coverage
Following the success of Hewlett-Packard, Co.’s inaugural HP Vertica Big Data Conference 2013, SiliconANGLE’s roving news desk theCUBE returns to this year’s event in Boston from August 12-14, 2014. Broadcasting live from the conference, theCUBE will interview industry experts and partners to learn how to maximize Big Data analytic outcomes.
Looking to become a top leader in Big Data, Hewlett-Packard (HP), the HP Vertica Big Data Conference 2014 is an opportunity for theCUBE to explore current topics including HP’s growing investment in its own Big Data solutions like Vertica, as well as the broader ecosystem, highlighting the market impact of HP’s $50 million funding round supporting one of the industry’s three major Hadoop-based platforms for Big Data, Hortonworks.
Further evidence of HP’s interest in cultivating its Big Data ecosystem is the event’s hackathon, developer lounge and onsite training, all in a push to educate and encourage the use of Vertica. Attracting developers to Vertica is a key challenge for HP, according to Wikibon analyst Jeff Kelly, who tells us that software remains a “very small slice of HP’s business with little traction made with developers.”
Keynote speakers & social buzz
This year’s Keynote Speakers include Author and Big Data Visionary Tom Davenport, HP Vertica VP and GM Colin Mahony, and HPC VP for Marketing and Vertica Chris Selland. Also look out for a special broadcast from theCUBE, as hosts John Furrier and Dave Vellante conduct a live interview on stage with the aforementioned analyst, Jeff Kelly.
