LG to unveil upscale LG Watch Urbane at MWC 2015
Mobile World Congress (MWC) takes place in Barcelona, Spain March 2 – 5 and we expect to see a lot of new products on show, particularly in the wearables space. In anticipation of that, LG Electronics today announced that it will unveil its latest smartwatch offering, LG Watch Urbane, at MWC 2015.
The LG Watch Urbane features the same round P-OLED display seen in the LG G Watch R, but set in a stylish and upmarket polished silver- or gold steel casing. The upmarket look is completed by a stitched leather strap, which the wearer can exchange for any standard 22mm watch band to suit any occasion.
The LG Watch Urbane is intended to be more formal than its predecessor, the LG Watch R and can be worn by both men and women.
The watch is compatible with smartphones running Android 4.3 and above.
The watch features a photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor that can measure the wearer’s heart rate and average pulse when exercising as well as an always-on ambient mode that shows the time in dimmed mode to preserve battery life.
“The LG Watch Urbane’s classic design and smart features make it the perfect smartwatch to complement our G Watch and G Watch R, which were designed as more casual and active devices,” said Juno Cho, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “LG Watch Urbane is an important part of our strategy to develop wearable devices that are worn and viewed as everyday accessories, not electronic gadgets.”
