Social Media Lessons Learned – What To Do

Stephanie Miller at Mediapost has a good writeup on her site called Social Media lessons learned from email marketing. In her post she has a good “Angle” and highlights the “playbook” on how to do social media. long-tail Stephanie shows marketers how to relate to social media in an email marketing context which is a great way to think practically about social media. I endorse Stephanies’ post.
Social media is like email. Stephanie writes..”Beyond a conversion/sale, the best endorsement you can get in email is to be forwarded. Forget the technology. Content is only forwarded because it speaks to the subscriber and s/he aspires to own the message. Now subscribers “SWYN” — share with your network — expanding the reach further.”

Here are the Social Media Tips:

1. It’s not free.

2. Being present is not enough.

3. Be authentic.

4. Integrate, don’t imitate.

5. Endorsements matter.

6. Measure well.

7. Have something to say.

Give your subscribers and community members what they want — engaging, interesting, relevant content and offers that are worth reading and talking about — and they will give you what you want: sales and loyalty.

Here is the post from Stephanie Miller on Social Media.
