Drone porn: 3D Robotics launches the autonomous Solo smart drone

3D Robotics, Inc. has launched Solo, a drone described as the first smart drone. It is equipped with two integrated Linux computers that provide both autonomous flight and camera control. The drone also delivers access to GoPro controls, including HD streaming right to the user’s mobile device and computer-assisted Smart Shot flight features.

Startups or new companies have a knack of delivering innovative products that we expect from big-name companies, and thanks to crowdfunding sites, their products become a reality and sometimes may even be cheaper compared to similar name-brand products in the market. Mobile vision company Movidius raises $40 million Series E

Movidius, Ltd., a company that specializes in compact, high-performance, ultralow power, computational imaging and vision processing chips, software, development tools and reference designs, has raised $40 million in Series E round of funding led by Summit Bridge Capital with the participation of Atlantic Bridge Capital, AIB Seed Capital Fund, Capital-E, DFJ Esprit and Robert Bosch Venture Capital, along with new investors ARCH Venture Partners and Sunny Optical Technology Group. The new round of funding will be used to further its efforts in seizing market opportunities.

New router doubles as smart home hub

Insulin Angel is a new smart health device that debuted on Indiegogo, which aims to help people afflicted with insulin-dependent diabetes, asthma and severe allergies remember to bring their medication at all times, as well as keep the medication at the right temperature. Also featured in this roundup is ASUS Designs’ new smartwatch and a partnership between pharmaceutical company Biogen and Patients Like Me to help in the diagnosis and study of multiple sclerosis.

Smart city lights of Paris
