Hackathon winners develop humanitarian app | #know15

Ken Pruitt, IT Services administrator for LKQ/Keystone, teamed up with Scott Wyatt, CEO and founder of Advantage Integrated Solutions, Inc., and three others to develop what would become the winning customer entry in Knowledge15’s hackathon.

App helps disaster relief victims

The winning app aims to help disaster relief victims by providing a platform for emergency services, state agencies and other authorities to provide information and support in crisis situations. “This is the app that we wished we’d had for Hurricane Katrina,” said Wyatt. “Rather than set up a big call center, you can send victims to this portal on the ServiceNow platform.”

Wyatt developed the idea prior to the event and assembled a team for the hackathon. Pruitt joined the group a couple hours into the project. He focused first on the layout. “Presentation is everything,” he said. “We wanted to make this as simple as possible for people that might be in a panic. It’s inviting but also easy to navigate.”

A centralized resource for big business

Wyatt plans to develop the app further. He envisions the app as not only useful for disaster situations, but also as a centralized resource for big businesses.
