Copia the social e-reader gives first ISL feature demonstration at DEMO Fall 2010

A new take on e-reading launched at DEMO Fall this week.  Copia is a social e-reader, that’s shocasing its Inline Social Reading features at the Silicon Valley conference.  It utilizes cloud synchronization to offer a live, real-time reading experience, which can be shared amongst friends or colleagues.

Through ISR COPIA users, regardless of the digital device, can/will stay connected with friends, continue discussing a book and leave annotations for future references. Additionally, users will be able to store and organize their shared notes and annotations within personal notebooks on the COPIA platform. At DEMO, COPIA will be taking its social e-Reading experience live with readers from across the nation engaging in conversation about a specific book, page and passage.

COPIA is a platform-independent, e-reading solution which combines content, community, collaboration and e-commerce.  It is currently in the beta phase and shall be released shortly.  This service will be available on e-Readers, notebooks, netbooks, tablets and smartphones (though the roll out of all services would be gradual). With Copia you can find great stuff to read, note and share with your friends.

This virtual readers club is the logical next step after the recent rise in the sales numbers around e-readers. Will this innovative product change the way we read? A previous two-post series by Bert Latamore discusses the impact of e-readers till now on our reading habits. You can read them via these links:
