More iOS apps for Android, suggests Apple job listing

Apple Music and Move to iOS could merely be the start of the applications Apple will offer for rival smartphone platform Android, suggests a recent job listing on Apple’s website, spotted by 9to5Mac on Tuesday.

The job posting states that “We’re looking for engineers to help us bring exciting new mobile products to the Android platform,” which makes it quite clear that Apple won’t be stopping with their Music and Move to iOS applications.

There has been no confirmation of an official release date for either of the Android applications. All we know at this stage is that release of the Apple Music application for Android is due this fall. While Move to iOS, which will allow Android users to more easily make the switch to iPhone, will coincide with the launch of iOS 9 in September.

We have known for a while now that Apple are open to bringing iOS apps to Android. In May 2013, Apple CEO Tim Cook stated in an audience Q&A session at the D11 conference, that the Cupertino-based company would “have no religious issue” with porting an Apple app from iOS to Android, “if we thought it made sense for us.”

We will have to wait and see which applications actually make their way over to Android from Apple. However, 9to5Mac’s Mark Gurman suggests that we could see iMessage, iTunes and possibly Safari making the move across.
