Smarten up your watch collection with the Chronos disc

Trading a watch in your prized collection for the latest smartwatch is something that most avid watch collectors are unlikely to do, but that is no longer a choice you have to make. The Chronos is a small disc that will transform your traditional watch into a smartwatch providing you with notification alerts, fitness tracking and gesture control.

The Chronos disc comes with a water resistant micro-suction surface that allows you to easily stick it to the back of your watch and it works with over 80 percent of watches sold today. The metal disc is lightweight and measures 33 millimeters in diameter and is just 3 millimeters thin, ensuring minimal interference when you are wearing your watch.

Once you pair the disc with the Chronos app on your smartphone, you can receive various notifications, allowing the disc to either light up or vibrate. With a choice of six LED colors or eight vibration patterns, you can select to receive notifications that are either person-specific or app-specific. Integrated apps include Facebook, Twitter and Snapchat.

The Chronos disc also works as a fitness tracker, and once you have paired the app with your device, it will pull through your health data from iOS’s HealthKit. The main fitness tracking categories include steps, distance, active calories burned and flights of stairs climbed.

Finally, there is also the option to turn on gesture controls. Features include the ability to tap your watch in a certain pattern to skip music tracks, silence calls or even remotely activate your phone’s camera.

The Chronos battery lasts for 36 hours, with a fully charged disc ready in 30 minutes when using the Chronos wireless charger – and you don’t even need to remove Chronos from your watch while charging.

Pre-order now to transform your watch

To check if the Chronos will work with your watch, download the Chronos Wearables iOS app and follow the easy steps. At this stage, the Chronos disc only works with iOS (8.0 and above), but an Android version is likely to be ready before the preorders start shipping.

You can preorder your Chronos at a discounted price of $99. At this stage, the shipping of preorders is due to start in spring 2016 when the Chronos will also be available for general sale at a price of $129 per disc.
